Past

“The Power of Paint” was Steele’s very first solo exhibition held back in 2023 in the Harbour Arts Centre, Irvine. This exhibition focused around the effects of criticism within the arts on mental health. Steele looked at how beneficial criticism is to grow but also how toxic and damaging it can sometimes become, therefore he emphasized the importance of creating for yourself. Whilst Steele focused his ideas around the arts, more particularly painting, he wanted people to take these thoughts to any aspect of their own lives where they fit.

Steele McTurk featured in the 2026 DJCAD Degree Show. This annual event celebrates the work of graduating students and marks the culmination of four years of study, serving as a springboard for future creative careers.

The show was on for nine days, from 23rd May to 31st May, transforming DJCAD into one of the largest free exhibition spaces in Scotland. Visitors had the opportunity to experience a wide range of innovative and diverse work produced by emerging artists and designers.
