Steele McTurk worked on a Scottie Dog Sculpture inspired by the most quintessential and iconic bread in Scotland, The Mother’s Pride Scottish Plain Loaf by Hovis. This was on display from the 18th of June till the 16th of August 2026 on the Govan Footbridge. 

His design drew inspiration from Hovis' Mothers Pride, the beloved Scottish traditional plain loaf of bread. Creating a piece paying homage to Scotland's rich heritage while adding a whimsical, light-hearted twist. The concept was to transform the Scottie dog into a canvas for the iconic tartan pattern, celebrating a symbol that is instantly recognizable and quintessentially Scottish. This is a celebration of Scotland's culture, heritage, and sense of fun. Combining an iconic Scottish motif with the charm of the Scottie dog, designed to delight, engage and turn something familiar into something wonderfully unexpected. 

Steele was then asked to paint a second Scottie sculpture in honour of Sir Chris Hoy. Created in honour of Sir Chris Hoy and his annual charity bike ride, the Tour de 4. The event was founded to challenge the stigma surrounding a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, inspiring hope, resilience and positivity while encouraging important conversations and raising funds to support people affected by cancer. Inspired by Sir Chris Hoy himself, the Scottie's distinctive colouring reflects his iconic hair colour, while it proudly wears the official 2026 Tour de 4 jersey. Beautifully painted by Steele McTurk and personally signed by Sir Chris Hoy, this one-of-a-kind Scottie celebrates courage, determination and community spirit. It stands as a tribute to everyone living with cancer and to the power of coming together to inspire hope, raise awareness and make a lasting difference.
